I know this will hard, but I think

*if possible either both deb and rpm, or a custom one just for this one
*one version of this distro provides support for ALL arch's and it automatically detects the arch at install
*Xfce, K and Gnome all pre-installed, with Xfce as default and shown in first load the fact that you can use K or Gnome as well(Xfce as default as it's the lightest of them all, and provides quickest desktop load)
*automatically detects screen size and resolution at install
*has all the repositories we can find pre-installed, and only shows the arch version of the OS
*has two of each program, meaning K3B as simple to use, then another as advanced(same with all)
*has the firefox from the mozilla site pre-installed, not like ubuntu where they've limited the browser to be unable to update from 2.0.0.3 to 2.0.0.9(latest version)
*has the options of automatically using free space, using the entire hard-drive or letting you decide on the setup
*has a control panel like Yast where it has links to ALL settings editors

well, I told you it would be hard, but I'm pretty sure that would become the "PERFECT" OS

and trust me, if it had all that, with no errors, it would become the Ruling OS, plus, it would knock Bill Gates right from the top of the mountain to the pig sty at the bottom
and no I don't hate him, but if this OS does that, he'll most certainly say yes to stop trying to kill Linux, and start working equally with Linux

oh, and when this OS(in any form) is complete, I would like to be a beta tester

I like to see:
- rolling upgrade philosophy ( Debian)
- deb based distro
- apt-get / synaptic package management
- use of the Debian repositories (stable, testing, unstable)
- Gnome / KDE version live cd installation option, above the "normal" way

I would like a way to make packages compiled from source cooperate with packages installed by the distribution's package manager. For example, if I compile zlib or gcc from source and install them, I would like a way to keep the programs that depend on the older versions functioning properly.

Perhaps you could try an option to recompile dependent packages?
