One issue that keeps arising is whether we should be starting from a developed distribution (Ubuntu, Gobuntu, openSUSE) and struggle to fix their issues, or start from scratch (perhaps using the Linux From Scratch Project) to try and prevent these issues before they even occur to our distro. I'm posting a poll here so that we can get an idea of what each person thinks. As well as voting in the poll, please also post a message of why you think we should choose a particular option.
My own opinion is that we should start from scratch, solely because if other distros (say, Ubuntu) still haven't fixed their ongoing issues despite a huge developer base, how can we? That is why I think it is best to start afresh and try to stay away and/or fix these problems as they arise from the very beginning. Although it will be time-consuming, I think it will be worth it in the end.
So, what are your ideas? _________________ --SamFisher47

| I think starting from scratch is a good idea, because if you use another distribution as a base, you'll have to fix their bugs as well as your own. Besides, a "built from scratch" distribution shows more hard work, creativity, and originality. |

in my opinion, scratch is best option, and if we started from another distro, maybe debian better than ubuntu... _________________ Computers are like air conditioners; they stop working properly if you open Windows |
