SamFisher47 has finished the LFS project, and it has been uploaded on our site. We should have enough bandwidth to accommodate everyone, but just in case, the file will be in the Downloads section, and is available only to registered members. We can now begin the actual step of building our new Linux distribution. See the To Do section for information on current tasks.

Has anyone had time to test and/or improve my LFS build?

Thanks,

I am looking at it, and have tried for a few days now, but I am not sure how to mount/run it. Can you help me?

Sure. It's easier to do in Ubuntu.

1. Install partimage with 'sudo apt-get install partimage'
2. Run partimage from the terminal with 'sudo partimage'
There should be instructions to restore an image from a file if you search in Google. You need an empty ext3 partition greater than 2GB to restore the image. When it asks for what file to restore from, just point it to the LFS.image, wherever you placed it.
3. Create an entry in your GRUB (/boot/grub/menu.lst) that is similar to Ubuntu, but points to the LFS partition
4. Edit /etc/fstab to reflect the name of your root ('/') partition (e.g. /dev/hda1) and your swap partition (e.g. /dev/hda2)
5. Restart your computer

That should be it! Very Happy
