I use Firefox just because of the massive amount of plugins and themes, etc. We should also consider alternatives such as Swiftweasel, Iceweasel, Swiftfox, etc!

Never heard of those, but it is a good idea to offer alternative ones. We should include them as optional installations.

Yes, well they are pretty much just optimised builds of Firefox, for different CPUs, etc. So we should include Swiftweasel in a 64-bit build. I think Iceweasel aims to only include free plugins or something, and it removes the Firefox-branded artwork.

iceweasel is the firefox version from debian, because a problem of licenses they changed the name... its the same as firefox, and uses the same extensions and whatever, but changes the name and icons, which were not free...

i use konqueror, just for integration with kde...it seems to be lighter than firefox, and i use kget with it...

Interesting Davmont. I was personally leaning towards Firefox or one of its child projects for KDE and Gnome just because many users are familiar with it, but if Konqueror is better/easier/more usable, then it should be default for the KDE version

Konquerer is default in all distros (because it is a file manager), but Firefox is the default web browser. Also, just noted: Dolphin will replace Konquerer in KDE 4, so we will have to compare that to Firefox when the time comes.

Yep, sounds good. I haven't used KDE much so I'll probably trial it once KDE 4 is released Razz

I use Firefox, and when I used to use KDE, I used Konqueror. These should be fine in the distribution. Now comes the question of SwiftWeasel (SwiftFox now has a bad reputation; they were not concerned about open source): should it at least be in the repositories?

I think so, I use it on an everyday basis under Ubuntu on my 64-bit desktop computer. I use Firefox on the 32-bit one though. Maybe we should include Swiftweasel for the 64-bit build, just because it is optimised?

Dolphin is a file manager only. It isn't a web browser. Konqueror will still be present in KDE 4 as both a file manager and web browser.
