Just a quick note:

I think we should save all discussion on KDE until KDE 4 is out. This will be a major update, and it would be pointless to start work on a system that will be outdated in just a few short months, which has been scheduled for release on December 11, 2007. You can track KDE 4's progress here:

Yes, definitely!

Otherwise, we would always be one step behind Sad

Well that will also save some effort. We can begin making solid Gnome version by release date.

I have been thinking lately, when released, it will probably be slightly unstable, and completely new. Would it be better to start with the true and tried KDE 3.5?

I think we should probably get started with the Gnome version, then once KDE 4 is released, wait for 2-4 weeks for the reviews and the like to come out, and then begin work. How does that sound?

Sounds decent, work on one by one. We just have to make sure people realize that this isn't an entire Gnome project.

Yes, if we want, we could put a notice on our website asking for KDE developers or something, just so people realise that we WILL be creating a KDE edition! Very Happy

Not sure if we would need them yet, we should have a near perfect Gnome before we divide our time.

I agree with waiting until the release of KDE 4 - it will be well worth the delay.

Great, what could you help with in KDE? Could you make apps for it?

I came across this in Ubuntu Forums: http://polishlinux.org/kde/kde-4-preview-rev-723381/

It does look pretty impressive. The last time I used KDE was a couple years ago, mostly because of the eyecandy advantages Razz .

Once Gnome came out with Compiz and Beryl without support for KDE, I switched. I then recognized that Gnome seemed more professional/powerful. With the new version of KDE coming out, it'll be a tough choice; I might switch back.
