So now we are back to this topic: What do we use to build a new distro. After like a month i finally got our LFS system up and running, but wow... I don't see how we can progress through that. So, any ideas? It seems fair to say that once we have a starting foundation, adding apps and whatnot will be easy, but it is making that foundation that is the hardest part. Personally I think that our problem is that we are trying to something in our spare time, something that companies dedicate years to do. Not only that, but we have only a handful of active people. I feel that it is quite possible to get this done, we should focus our efforts on getting more people in here. That way, everyone can work on a small piece of it, and it will move much smoother. _________________

Hi everyone,
Sorry I was away for so long, I have just started university and was just settling in.
I agree, I think the LFS system is almost impossible to work with, and we require a better base from which to begin our work. Recommendations have been: Arch, Ubuntu (or preferably Debian) and Gentoo.
Hopefully, if we can get more people here, we can begin proper development. However, I think if we decide which distro to use as a base first, we can consider searching for developers specialised in that distro.
Just my thoughts, _________________ --SamFisher47

Welcome back , and wow, that was a fast entry to the university from the time you finished school lol. Well I was looking around, and I think that a distro based off of Gentoo, or similar would be best, since those are practically unique anyway considering that it is almost from scratch. I was also considering NavynOS. It's older, but looks great, and Gentoo based. I have never used either of these though. _________________
